1. West Hollywood core (Santa Monica Blvd corridor). The winner, and it isn’t close. This is where the fashion week crowd concentrates.
2. The Sunset Strip. A mile up the hill, five minutes by car, and the glamour address — the Strip’s hotel row has hosted every era of LA nightlife. Pick it when the hotel is part of the occasion; the ride to Formosa is trivial.
3. Hollywood. East of the venue, roughly a ten-minute ride, with strong hotel stock around Hollywood Blvd and more accessible rates. You trade the WeHo-at-your-door effect for value and classic-Hollywood sightseeing out the window.
4. Beverly Hills & the Design District. West of the venue, ten to fifteen minutes on surface streets. Beautiful, calmer, shopping-forward — right for travelers pairing the shows with a Rodeo Drive kind of weekend.
5. Everywhere else — with caution. Downtown, Santa Monica, and the beach cities are wonderful LA, but each puts real traffic between you and an evening show. If you stay there, treat show nights like airport runs: leave absurdly early or move hotels for the weekend.

The icons. Chateau Marmont and the Sunset Tower Hotel are the names that made the Strip the Strip — hotels that have been part of Hollywood’s story for nearly a century and sit a five-minute ride from the studio gates. If LAFW is a milestone trip, this is the version people write about.
Design-forward. The Sunset Strip and WeHo hills carry a dense row of stylish modern hotels — rooftop pools, sunset views over the city, lobbies that photograph like sets — and the Design District adds boutique options on the quieter west side. Any of them keeps you inside the ten-minute circle; pick on vibe and view, not geography, because the geography is all good here.
Budget-smart. The Santa Monica Blvd corridor and Hollywood both carry reliable mid-range and chain properties at friendlier rates — and in this market, budget doesn’t mean far. A well-located smart-money room five minutes from the gates beats a luxury room across town every single show night.
Book now, book refundable. Mid-October is prime LA event season and West Hollywood is a physically small neighborhood — the close-in inventory thins first. The Anti-Car Argument (for This Weekend Only)
LA is a driving city — and for this specific weekend, you mostly shouldn’t. Rideshare is the default move: drop-off at the Formosa Ave entrance is the zero-friction arrival, evening shows end better when nobody’s the designated driver, and a weekend of short WeHo rides costs less than most hotel parking. There’s no subway stop at the door — the nearest Metro line runs about two miles away — so the ride is the plan.
If you fly in: LAX to West Hollywood runs 30–60 minutes depending on hour; Burbank (BUR) is the quieter alternative on the north side at a similar drive. Land by mid-afternoon on a show day and you’ll make an evening show without stress.

Friday to Sunday, Built Around Golden Hour

WeHo brunch is a genre of its own, the Melrose Trading Post flea market is a Sunday institution nearby, and a late-afternoon flight still clears LAX comfortably.
The Food Map Radiates From the Gates
Next to the venue: the Formosa Cafe is the non-negotiable — a 1925 Hollywood landmark that’s hosted a century of studio wrap nights and now hosts fashion week’s. The Santa Monica Blvd corridor around it carries casual pre-show options in both directions.
A short ride west: WeHo’s classic dining row, headlined by institutions like Dan Tana’s — the red-booth Italian that’s been feeding this neighborhood since 1964 — plus the modern seafood-and-scene restaurants the area is known for. These book up; reserve the moment your show schedule locks.
South and east: Melrose Avenue’s cafes for daytime, and the Original Farmers Market at Third and Fairfax — an LA institution since 1934 — for the best casual breakfast radius in the city.
